MIA

Admittedly, it's a little early in my blogging enterprise to be taking a leave of absense, so lets just say I was temporarily MIA over the past few weeks. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster with multiple offers on houses, none of which came through for us, a trip to NE for Thanksgiving, and some family visiting for a marathon in town. Oh, and a nasty cold. Anyway, I'm back. We're still in need of a home, but I've resigned myself to the reality that we'll be continuing to rent for awhile. There are worse possibilities. Actually, we briefly lived one of the worse possibilities last month, when our downstairs neighbors suddenly took up a new habit. Starting the Sunday after Thanksgiving they started smoking pot nightly right below our master bedroom. Three nights in a row. Then the must've run out or something. Thanks neighbors for the attempts to get my poor little fetus high! The apartment manager said they couldn't do anything and my police officer brother-in-law suggested we speak with them ourselves, since it wouldn't be an emergency call and the smell could dissipate before the police responded to a non-emergency call. Ever non-confrontational, I just aired out the apartment and left for a few hours. We never had trouble with them in the past, and they've been there for about 3 years. Anyway, either the habit didn't take for them or they decided to be responsible adults. We've been odor-free since those three days.

Tonight begins the big holiday baking spree of '09. I'll take pictures if anything looks edible.

Brief update on our news and, um, non-news. We didn't get either house we've put offers on. Boo. The NEWS is that we found out the gender of the baby! I think it'll be a secret for as long as we can keep it a secret.

We're getting geared up to go to Bite of Las Vegas today - probably the last concert I'll be able to see for awhile, and definitely a good one with great food and a great line-up. Join us for Parachute, Uncle Kracker, Blue October, and Train!

Big News??

This could be a very big week for us. We have two offers in on houses and are just waiting to hear from the banks. AND, Friday we hope to find out our baby's gender! Yay! I started feeling what I think are little kicks this week.

It's been a long time since I've posted, but there's a good reason! Last Tuesday I had the most humiliating, horrifying, unpleasant doctor visit. I've pondered whether or not to go into it here, but right now I just want to pretend it never happened. I've spent the last week blocking it out. Then my parents drove out to visit us for the weekend. I loved seeing them, but I'm over the whole tour guide role I took on when I moved to a popular tourist destination. It's mentally exhausting to guess at what people would want to see/do/eat constantly. I come from a line of people-pleasers, and I fit right in. When our guests are too timid or indecisive or afraid of having an opinion that may not be popular to just say what they want, I STRESS OUT. But really, it was nice to see them.

God Bless Martha

You know that moment when you wake up and realize that it's Saturday, and joy washes over you?  I was there at about 6:30am.  Then around 6:32 I remembered that I have to work today.  For free.  On a boring project.  While BB goes on a bike ride and shops for houses.  Even my cat pitied me until it was time for his first morning nap.

So the grocery store started selling little pumpkins and gourds this week and now I'm really in the mood for fall (doesn't hurt that it's going to be over 100 degrees today).  Where else does one go when in the mood for fall, but Martha Stewart??  Look at this fabulous idea for a little pumpkin scent diffuser (the instructions are here)

Music for a Friday

Really loving this by Mat Kearney

and this by Train

Ouch!

I seem to be growing bigger by the minute.  Maybe it wouldn't concern me if I hadn't read about a 19-pound baby born in Indonesia.  Anyway, I need to start shopping for maternity clothes.  Why is so much of it so boring??  It should be said that I'm relatively cheap when it comes to clothes.  I don't do $200 jeans, and am reluctant to buy even $100 maternity jeans that I don't intend to wear for very long.  Not that jeans need to be interesting, but it would be nice if they fit well.  There are unlimited quantities of maternity t-shirts, though.  How exciting.

Congrats to BB for getting some major respect yesterday at work!!  It's well-deserved and, as always, I'm proud of you!!

It's become apparent that, for me, that pregnancy glow I always hear about is actually greasy skin.  Couple that with the fact that I'm showing only to to point of looking like I've had one too many jelly doughnuts and I'm feeling quite attractive these days.

BB is off to more concerts tonight.  The doctor has warned that if I need ear plugs then I shouldn't be there.  Once the baby comes we'll have to get ear muffs for him or her.  Has anyone used these with any success  (from here)?

Another week goes by...

and we achieved a few things:

-Another appointment with the doctor, and all is well.

-Meeting with the morgtage loan officer. It's possible that I'm too cheap to enjoy the process and excitement of buying our first home.

-Home from a quick vacation in Estes Park with my fun sister and brother-in-law.  The picture is of a couple of elk behind our camp site.

-Ate too much at another San Gennaro Feast. Apologies go out to my tiny fetus for the greasy pizza.

-Started Body Pump classes again for the first time since my knee injury, with trepidation.

Now on to more pressing matters. I need this from Isabella Oliver. It might make me feel better about doubling in size. (http://www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/maternity-wear-bestsellers/Wrap-Around-Top/D/30100/P/1:900:5000/I/TP005)
